2021.12.02 10:29 JosePapalito What’s So Difficult?
Not a driver but I gotta ask, what is so difficult about driving in a straight line? If I order an Uber at 8, why does it take 25 minutes just to come pick me up? What is the reason behind taking an unnecessary turn that forces me to wait longer when you could’ve just driven in a straight line?
Then when it comes to taking me to the destination y’all just magically know how to drive and get there fast?

2021.12.02 10:29 newmes Does anyone have experience with BlogVault? How is it
This is a premium plugin with cloud-based backups and restore functionality.
Just curious if anyone has experience and can recommend (or tell me it's awful hahaha).
I'm just looking for a simple solution where I can generate a site backup once or twice a week, download it locally, and have it kept on the cloud, too.
This seems to fit the bill.

2021.12.02 10:29 6E4cGFvTvd TIFU by going for a ride on my skateboard
Not today, obviously, but in February of 2020 I (an almost 40 year old, out of shape, father of two, who has no business on an any skateboard) broke my left arm when I was flung from a OneWheel going ~20mph. An ambulance was called to take me to the ER and over the course of 10 hours I was x-rayed, flushed, debrided, sedated, bandaged, and then x-rayed some more. During the accident my humerus exited and re-entered my arm, so extra time had to be taken to clean the wound to prevent any possible infection. I just got light headed writing that. At one point during my x-rays the tech complained that "I was getting blood all over his table." The hospital staff were all great, and lovely, and did their best to take care of me. I am very appreciative for their care.
We left the hospital around 11pm. My wife dropped me off at home (we were living with her parents at the time), my in-laws helped me get set up in bed while she ran to the 24 hour pharmacy to get my meds. When she got home she noticed that my exit wound had somehow been bleeding through the approximately 10,000 layers of bandages and onto our bed. So, back to the ER. They unwrapped, re-flushed, re-cleaned, re-wrapped, wrapped some more, then sent me home.
The next couple of days I went to work with my new 2-piece arm in a sling, the bones floating around somewheres inside and occasionally scrapping against each other (it wasn’t as painful as it sounds). Less than 24 hours before the surgery was scheduled, literally while I was taking a shit, the hospital called me to ask me how I was going to pay the $2,000 deductible. “I don’t have $2,000 dollars.” “Well, we can’t do the surgery if you don’t pay the deductible up front. We do accept CareCredit. If you want you can visit their website and apply for a healthcare credit card.” I talked them down to $750 up front and billing me the rest.
I had surgery, declined the portable-pod-anesthesia-slow drip thingy to ease the first couple days of recovery (big mistake), and rehabilitated.
About a year later my arm was still in a lot of pain. I had mostly resigned myself to it as penance for being such a dumbass, but eventually my wife convinced me to schedule a follow up with the surgeon. He said that it is fairly common with these types of breaks to experience some discomfort or pain long term, but some of it could be mitigated by removing the screw. This past July I had it removed. My arm feels fine now unless it’s about to storm.
Here’s an album of my expenses spreadsheet, some of my x-rays, and the screw that was removed, nothing graphic, but the x-rays are pretty gnarly: https://imgur.com/a/NYPhDhx.
The left side of the spreadsheet represents all of the claims filed to my insurance company for both surgeries, what the insurance company covered, and what is my responsibility. The right side is what I’ve been able to “pay off,” some of it through credit cards, personal loans, and help from family. I have a great job, and “good” insurance. I’ve been getting multiple bills from at least 6 different billers (Green is the hospital, but the hospital has at least 3 different departments they bill from, all with slightly different names and phone numbers), so shit got confusing. After 2 years I still owe $2,300 to a collection agency (that I just found out about, hence the spreadsheet) because some of my bills were sent to an address that I hadn’t lived at for over 10 years. I know I theoretically still owe more than that since some of these bills were paid with credit cards and personal loans that I’m still paying off, but at least they’re not in collections.
I called Pink yesterday to try and figure out if I still had an outstanding bill with them, or where that missing $84.66 might be from. The receptionist told me I still owe them $833. When I told her there’s no way, that I had paid almost 1.8k already she said, “We’ll call you back.” Still waiting for the call back.
TL;DR: Broke my arm. Have to pay 10k out of pocket. Don't get injured in America.

2021.12.02 10:29 cinnanndet Anyone have information or advice about the possibility of Familial MM or a MM genetic component?
I’m a 34 year old male. Two of my uncles (dads side) were diagnosed with MM in their 60s.
My dad was also diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in his 60s.
They all had lifestyle and environmental risk factors that I’m sure played a role. They were all smokers and drinkers. Some more heavy than others. They all worked in auto body shops, painting cars without respirators. They were all overweight with poor diets.
I drink alcohol but don’t smoke and never have. I have a relatively healthy weight, diet and lifestyle and no occupational risks.
Still, At times I feel like I’m counting down the days until I get sick. I’ve been trying to figure out how and if genetics play a role in MM. does anyone have any information on this?

2021.12.02 10:29 zon03 Engine turning but not starting (seat Ibiza 2000 1.4 petrol)
I have a Seat Ibiza 2000 Petrol 1.4. And last month, a few days after I bought it, the battery died, basically I got scammed... The mechanic told me that the alternator was bad and replaced it for a very expensive price... Now it is 3 weeks after that, and again it won't start... It seems different than before, the battery is turning the engine, but it isn't able to start. This problem started after the engine stalled in first gear. But obviously that can happen sometimes....
I'll upload a video, does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
It's hard to see clearly, but the battery light is on, and at some point after attempting to start for a few seconds the oil light flashed on, but I don't know if that is because it was trying to start for too long without success.

2021.12.02 10:29 Do_Not_Fear_Me_Gypsy In regard to the new recruitment site update
He just wanted to let all of you know who might have been concerned about the careers site being moved over to the Oracle based recruitment that I reached out to Goldman and they said that all previous applications will be transferred over next week. I know this caused some confusion for a bunch of us, myself included, and just wanted to pass on that info.
